Acing Evil

Cyber Security

We Offer An Array Of Services And Consulting

Rather than expressing these services in the abstract,
we prefer to give you an range through real problems
for which people seeks solutions.

COMPUTER FORENSICS AND EXPERT WITNESS TESTIMONY

AT THE GOVERNMENT LEVEL, we can serve all levels of government, especially police departments and district attorneys, who may be without adequate computer forensic expertise to gather the evidence which they suspect or seek.

AT THE CORPORATE LEVEL, we can serve an employer who is concerned about the activity of a particular employee's cyber behavior practices, search patterns, and keyboard attempts to affect information.

AT THE LEGAL & FINANCIAL LEVELS, we can help attorneys and accountants with a range of services dictated by their clients civil issues which may or may not be heading for the court docket.

AT THE PERSONAL LEVEL, and perhaps the more humane level where the information garnered isn't punitive, but protective, we can help parents understand where their children have been visiting or chatting. While this service may be unpopular with the kids, it could save them from world of hurt and you a world of worry... and hurt as well!

"Where Did You Go?" and "What Did You Do?"
Has a very new perspective for today's parents.

INTRUSION DETECTION, AND THE FIREWALLS THAT HALT BREAK-INS

Well, if you have ever installed a mere home computer firewall (only to find that your PC ended up with some different - if not bizzaro - blocking of your own requests,) you only have to imagine this problem in a corporation with a local area network and layers of different access permissions.  We'll end with this framing statement, because beyond it, the complexities grow geometrically.  What you need to know is that we can, have and are solving problems of this magnitude.

But let's stick with YOU... our model Acing Evil Member.  How about all those wonderful, wireless "lans" or "hubs" that the electronic super stores are offering so that you don't have all of those unsightly wires all over the place... and, lest we foreget, the hassle of "stringing" that stuff through walls, ceilings, and floors.

Well okay, the good news is that the unsightly mess is eliminated...
but perhaps another unsightly mess occurs when your neighbor starts reading your client's business, if you have an office in your home... or reciting your amorous "Matchmaker" correspondence.

Wires or wireless, creating a safeguard to hold back the barbarians is a real issue that serious computer users must address.

HUMAN ENGINEERING... not to be confused with GENETIC ENGINEERING

We could talk in hypotheticals... but there is nothing hypothetical about these problems.  They occur with regularity, all over the world. Here's a typical problem:

An HR worker is "dealing" with an employee.  The phone rings, the HR person is asked to bring a folder into the his/her boss' office.  The person leaves the desk for just a minute.  BUT IN THAT MINUTE...THE "CALLED-ON-THE-CARPET" EMPLOYEE CHANGES HIS/HER PAY GRADE WHICH THEN AUTOMATICALLY TRIGGERS A PAYROLL UPDATE.  Oops!  And, all because the HR person didn't "lock" the PC.

Yet, this is just one of the mistakes that occurs everywhere that employees interact with desktop computers.  It's not the stuff that makes the 11:00 PM news, but that's because the employer is too embarrassed by the snafu to report it to the police.... and, now is also too concerned about other snafus that might be occurring... even as s/he is taking Mylanta for heart burn!

Building awareness, developing procedures, and monitoring "innocent"
behaviors, collectively called Human Engineering,  sounds like the simplist part of network security.  But of course, it's not!  You only have think of some of your employees -- hopefully, past -- to realize that humans engineering presents as many challenges as there are "challenging" humans in your business.  Enough said!!!

AND THE LIST GROWS.  SO IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN, CONTACT US.
